“There was an obvious improvement in most of the work. And in one instance, our ‘grand prix’ winner, there was a huge leap forward. Writing that was more honest and from the heart, stood out, as it always does in the real world. It was very rewarding as a judge to see the progress that was made based on the feedback given in the first round. Well done to all the participants”

“Out of all the kids I saw at Portfolio Night yesterday, your student clearly stood out. I offered him a job. Now it’s up to him if he wants to accept it”

“One thing to take out from the judging session is that no amount of eye candy can compensate for the idea of the work. The ones that were picked 1st, 2nd and 3rd stood out from the rest, and they were hardly the most polished or the best executed. Relevancy, Originality and Creativity are the criteria that anyone in advertising should judge their own work by.”

“It’s amazing what one month of intense re-working can do. When I first saw the ads in the first round, there were a little rough. The thought process, how campaignable it is and the presentation was definitely not as in-depth as where it has been taken to this round. In the last round, it was very clear who the winners were. In this round, there is definitely more competition, even within one individual’s portfolio. Imagine what would happen if the students take that same practice they have learnt in Janet’s class, and implement that every singly day of their lives.”

“Hi Janet, it was a pleasure meeting you the other day. I hope your new endeavour at 95% proves to be particularly fruitful. It’s a great thing to be able to pass something on to the next generation. If there’s anything I can do to support, please let me know.”

“My biggest gripe is the lack of conceptualisers amongst the graduate churn coming from the Art/Design colleges. There is a distinct inability to grasp concepts, articulate ideas, communicate with words. Our industry mantra of ‘ideas before execution’ eludes the average student portfolio. That’s where I think 95% will make the most difference.”
Edwin Leong
Executive Creative Director

MacCann
“They had just learned to build their own strategies and write ads. And yet, their work showed insight, a sense of purpose and most essentially, charm.
They made me feel very positive about the future of young writing talent in this industry.”

“I don’t think there’s any other place that trains aspiring advertising professionals the way 95% does. It equips you with just the right stuff to prepare you for the harsh realities of the ad agency. No fluff, no nonsense. The students of 95% never fail to impress.”
Alvin Ng

Y&R
“At 95%, Janet and her team have passion by the truckloads. You can literally feel it when you enter the room. You see it in her students’ eyes. You hear it when they speak. You get it in their work. You’ll get a strong foundation at this place. That’s obvious.”

What our graduates say:
Fajar Kurnia
“95% is where I learned about what advertising really is and who I am. I learned something here that I did not get in my three and a half years in college (or even in another 100 years) such as building a solid strategy, generating, evaluating and polishing ideas, and crafting copy.

But this is still less important than learning about myself. There I realise how powerful a human can be; it is beyond measure. I am able to see things from a different perspective. I know what I want, why I want that and how to get it. And I think that is the reason I am who I am today.”

“What to do with an English degree? I didn’t want to teach, I felt that journalism was too dry. Copywriting sounded cool but I had no idea where to start. I had the vocab, I had the grammar, 95% filled in the puzzle pieces that remained; strategy, ideas, and crafting, plus the uncovering of confidence and a passion that I didn’t realise was in me all along. I have never willingly worked so hard before I came to 95%. And I love every minute of it!”

“I don’t regret going to engineering school and throwing away three years of my life working on something I hate. I take it as ‘life experience’. I was just gathering the know-how so that now, I can pour my soul into copywriting. Know that all of us are meant for greatness and always keep on dreaming. As a Malay Language copywriter, I am now happy every day.”

Johan Putra
“95% brought out the confidence in me and made me realise my own capabilities. It taught me how to channel my creative thinking into creating ideas.

It also trained me to evaluate an ad or idea which I couldn’t do before.

The training has made me more aware and sharp, and the judge of my own ideas. The experience here has been a mind blowing roller coaster ride.”

“I’m actually applying what i’ve learnt in all modules in my work, and to be frank, everything seems clearer and more precise. Just got compliment from my boss about the strategy I did few weeks ago.”

“Personal growth was intense and nerve racking. For me, the point of it all was to look deep into my heart, mind, body and soul to see what and who I really am. Trust me when I say this, it’s a terrifying place to go that needs all your courage and commitment and then even more to go to. But at the end, you’ll emerge from the dark tunnel and see the brightest light you’ll ever witness. Somehow, you’ll just never be the same again, and it’s for the better.”

“If you said I was going to be a writer at a big agency a year ago, I would have laughed at you. I didn’t know a thing about advertising. Now I’m a writer at Dentsu Malaysia. Most of my friends are pretty sick of me talking about my job. I can’t help it though, I love it too much. For the first time ever I can wake up, head to work and not complain about anything at all. I honestly couldn’t have done it without Janet and the crew!”
